Sunshine Cottage has been preparing students for life in the hearing world since 1947 when Dela White started the school for her 18-month-old daughter who is profoundly deaf. Mrs. White believed that if given the opportunity, children with hearing impairment could learn to listen, speak and live a full, self-reliant life. Her belief has been richly rewarded through thousands of Sunshine Cottage students who have left our school to lead rewarding lives.
