| About Sunshine Cottage
Sunshine Cottage
has been preparing students for life in the hearing world since
1947 when Dela White started the school for her 18-month-old daughter
who is profoundly deaf. Mrs. White believed that if given the opportunity,
children with hearing impairment could learn to listen, speak and live a
full, self-reliant life. Her belief has been richly rewarded through
thousands of Sunshine Cottage students who have left our school
to lead rewarding lives. We invite you to explore our website and
contact us with any questions you may have.
Sunshine Cottage, a listening and spoken language school, is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement, OPTIONSchool International, and is a Texas Education Agency approved non-public school.
It is the 2004 recipient of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Continued Excellence Award.
