Because of its commitment to the importance of early hearing loss identification and intervention, Sunshine Cottage opened the Newborn Hearing and Evaluation Center (NHEC) in December 1999.  This center is a diagnostic testing site for newborns.  Audiologists perform a variety of nonsedated tests while the baby sleeps naturally.  After the evaluation, the audiologist will explain the results to the family and recommend appropriate referral and intervention services.
