Visitors to Sunshine Cottage hear children calling out the answers to questions, singing in choirs and discussing the latest harvest from the school garden. Developing listening, language, and speech skills are interwoven into the child's educational activities.

Options abound in every child's educational experience: self-contained classrooms are designed for children with hearing loss who need intensive listening, language, and speech development. Mainstream classes combine students with hearing loss and their hearing peers. All students benefit from a rich curriculum, hands on experiences, and low student to teacher ratios. Parents are thrilled with the amount of individual attention each student receives.

Academic programs, accredited by the prestigious Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, follow standards set by the Texas Educational Agency.

New Classroom Video Footage!

Teachers recently attended the Clicker 5 Training and are ALREADY implementing it into their lessons.  The goals are to have the students create a sentence (from a limited set) and then "read" it back.  Although they are not truly reading it, because they are in kindergarten, they are learning sentence process, structure, and rhythm.  The content they are learning is from "Things in the grass" which is part of our newly developed Sunshine Cottage curriculum which will be available for purchase in the near future.
