The Sunshine Cottage School Parent-Infant Program approaches audiological management from a fairly aggressive perspective. Our goal is to achieve maximum use of your child's residual hearing, and provide your child with the best possible chance to succeed in the hearing world. Services include:

Evaluation and Monitoring

Diagnostic hearing evaluation every three months for children 0-3 years old, including non-sedated auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing from newborn to six months. Otoacoustic emissions (OAE) testing is also provided when needed. Hearing evaluations will be conducted at any time a change in hearing sensitivity is suspected. Otoscopic examinations and tympanometry are completed as needed to assess outer and middle ear function.

Consultation

Families meet with the habilitation team to share information and plan appropriate intervention in team interaction with the auditory-verbal specialists.

Hearing Aid Evaluations

Hearing aid evaluations (HAE) are conducted every three months or sooner if any change in amplification has been made.

Cochlear Implant Programming

Cochlear implant programming, in coordination with the surgeon's office is completed at least every three months.

Ear-mold Impressions

Ear-mold impressions are taken at Sunshine Cottage for the convenience of the parents. There is a charge for ear molds.
