In
addition to the individual family sessions offered, parents can
also benefit from parenting sessions. The parenting sessions focus
on issues and concerns for all parents, regardless of their child's
ability to hear, and provides an opportunity for you to see how
your child and your circumstances measure on a typical continuum.
Theo highly recognized curriculums, Family Frameworks: The Early
Years, developed by the Parent Learning Network (a division of the
Texas Association of School Boards), and The Nurturing Program,
developed by Family Development Resources, Inc., provide the framework
for these sessions. Parent participation is a strong component of
both curriculums. The two-hour sessions are provided in a small
group format for one and a half hours during either lunchtime or
suppertime. Childcare is provided for all children in each family,
as well as meals for both parents and children.
