Vision

The Parent-Infant Program is dedicated to supporting, educating, and guiding parents to help their baby with hearing impairment learn to listen and talk.

Philosophy

Babies under the age of three years, with any degree of hearing impairment, can learn to listen and talk at the same rate as their peers with typical hearing.   In order for this to occur, all of the following must happen:

  • Your child's hearing loss must be identified early (newborn to six months preferred)
  • Your child must have access to appropriate amplification and aggressive audiological   management   (as soon after identification as possible)
  • You must commit to appropriate daily intervention, provided by you, using audio communication strategies.

When combined, these provide the most effective and efficient way for a baby with hearing impairment to learn to listen and speak.
