Our goal is to evaluate, monitor, and provide habilitative services to children with hearing loss to enable them full access to their listening environment. When a child's hearing loss is identified, intervention should begin immediately. The earlier that intervention occurs the sooner he or she can receive auditory information vital for learning speech and language. With early access to sound through the use of appropriate and consistent amplification or other hearing technology, a child's language level can follow normal development.
A clinical fellowship position is offered as a one year position for those who have completed their Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and are seeking their Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Applicants should have a desire to work with children with hearing loss, although experience in this area is not necessary. To inquire further about this position, please email Monica Dorman.
The Speech-Language Pathology Department partners with various universities to serve as a practicum site for those completing internships/externships while working towards their Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. For more information regarding internships/externships, please contact Monica Dorman.
